Business Practices II
Friday, March 14, 2008 - 9:00 AMJohn Harrington
John Harrington a Washington D.C. based freelancer will walk you through a two-part workshop on binding no-change contracts, late-paying clients, puzzling purchase orders, debate over rate increases – the business of photography is just plain time consuming and often times daunting. How can you better negotiate? How do the needs of editorial and commercial clients diverge and intersect? How might you handle a book deal, a magazine assignment or corporate clients? During this seminar we’ll touch on these topics and more, as you learn how to handle your business better and more efficiently.
John Harrington, a self-trained photographer and businessman has learned by doing – from his mistakes and successes. Before going freelance, John took a staff photographer’s position that took him across the United States and the World and signed on with Black Star. In addition to his successful freelance business, John adds to his resume author of a new must-read book, “Best Business Practices for Photographers.”
