Copyright and Other Hot Legal Issues

Mickey will discuss some of the most important issues facing the industry today, from contracts to copyright issues.
Mickey H. Osterreicher, Esq. is general counsel to the National Press Photographers Association. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association Media Law Committee and the American Bar Association Communications Law Forum. He has been a photojournalist for over thirty years, working first for the Buffalo Courier- Express as a still photographer and then at WKBW-TV, the ABC affiliate in Buffalo, NY, shooting, editing and producing video. His work has appeared in such publications as the New York Times, Time, Newsweek and USA Today as well as on ABC World News Tonight, Nightline, Good Morning America, NBC Nightly News and ESPN.
He has been actively involved in such issues as: cameras in the courtroom, the federal shield law and media credentialing in the NFL, MBL and high school sports. He writes regularly for the NPPA magazine as well as other online publications.

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Chris Usher graduated from Indiana University at Bloomington with a degree in Journalism. Usher spent several years as a newspaper photographer, (Troy Daily News; Richmond Palladium Item; Louisville Courier Journal; Miami Herald; Orlando Sentinel ) before going freelance and moving to Washington, DC in 1990.
