Najlah Feanny

Magazines and newspapers worldwide hire New York City-based photojournalist Najlah Feanny for her "day-in-the-life" style of reportage photography. To date, she has been commissioned for more than 2500 assignments.

She has covered national and political issues involving abortion, women's rights, poverty and guns; news stories about hurricanes, floods, wild fires and school shootings; in addition to the business world of mega mergers and chief executive officers and presidential campaigns.

Her work has appeared on dozens of magazine covers, including Newsweek, Time, US News & World Report, People, New York Magazine, Fortune and Forbes and has been widely published in Business Week, Money, Der Spiegel, Stern, Focus, Macleans, The London Sunday Times, Paris Match and countless others. She is the only woman in the world to hold a Newsweek Magazine photography contract in more than a decade.

She has contributed to several books, including "An American Journey" and " America 24/7". Foreign assignments have taken her to dozens of countries, including Pope John Paul's historic pilgrimage to Cuba.

She is the co-founder of the non-profit organization, The Heart Gallery of New Jersey, where she brought together more than 150 world-class photographers to shoot hundreds of orphans in an effort to publicize their plight and bring about an increase in adoptions.

In 2005, ABC news with Peter Jennings named Ms. Feanny and the Heart Gallery photographers the "Person of the Week", and the organization has garnered worldwide press coverage.

She is also the founder of Do 1 Thing, a nationwide effort among 32 Pulitzer-prize winning photographers and journalists that raises awareness about homeless teenagers and encourages individuals to do one thing of their choice to assist them. Launched in 2009, the massive social media initiative involved students and faculty from nine universities and photographers, pictures editors, designer and journalists from many of the most recognized magazines and newspapers in the country.

In 2008 she received the Angel in Adoption award from the U.S. Congress's adoption caucus and first prize from The Russ Berrie Award for Making a Difference, honouring New Jersey's unsung heroes.

In 2009 she founded Design for Social Good, a design and development company leveraging creative media and Web 2.0 technologies for social GOOD. Using innovative design solutions to highlight critical social dilemmas, we take a fresh approach to solving old problems.

Najlah currently has six photographs on display in the permanent collection of the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library.
