LESSONS LEARNED FROM HAITI – ARE YOU READY WHEN DISASTER STRIKES?
The recent earthquakes in Haiti and the continuing difficulty of recovery present serious challenges to photojournalists. This panel will address how to prepare to cover large-scale disasters.
How do you deal with the logistics of getting to and working in a difficult environment? Moderator Chris Collins of the Star Ledger will lead panelists Michael Appleton, freelance, Gary Hershorn, News Pictures Editor-North America Reuters, Carl Phillipe-Juste, Miami Herald and Julie Platner, freelance, as they show their images and discuss how to work and survive while trying to balance professional responsibilities with personal humanity.
